A History in Selling Fine Handmade Rugs
Established in Norwich City Centre in the mid 1980’s we have been successfully supplying handmade rugs for over 35 years. Our showrooms are situated on 3 floors in historic Bedford Street in The Lanes, in the centre of Norwich (behind Jarrolds Dept. Store).
We believe we have the best selection of rugs anywhere in the region, and we keep over 700 pieces of stock available at any one time. We go to great lengths to ensure we always have new and interesting pieces in stock with each piece chosen by the owner, Mr James Durrant.

Our Showrooms
Our showrooms are arranged over 3 floors and situated in historic Bedford Street – part of The Norwich Lanes – in the very centre of Norwich. These historic narrow streets are home to many of Norwich’s oldest shops. Many are listed buildings and house a wealth of independent retailers specialising in such diverse trades as an art gallery, antiques, modern and traditional furnishings, fine country clothing and a gentlemen’s outfitters.
At Oriental Rugs of Norwich we firmly believe in stocking a truly diverse range of colours, designs, sizes and types. To this end we have made many trips overseas to Iran, India and Pakistan. It is wonderful to experience the unique culture of the people of these fascinating and vibrant countries. It is equally rewarding to unearth individual pieces in the bazaars and markets where these treasures are bought and sold.
